Sunny Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1981. Sunny was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in January 1982 and was further admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in June 1995. He is also a commissioner for oaths and a notary public.
Sunny started his legal career with Freshfields a firm he joined shortly after graduation in 1981.
As a senior lawyer at Freshfields (1981 to 1987), Sunny worked both in the Singapore as well as the London office. His work then, and thereafter, has involved him in cross-border banking transactions, including project finance and other types of credit facilities in the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific region, debt restructuring, acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures; the listing of public companies; securities and fund management transactions and advice; and general banking, corporate and commercial matters.
Sunny is a founding partner of Wong Tan & Molly Lim LLC, which he established with partners who, up to December 1986, were senior associates with him at Freshfields.
Wong Tan & Molly Lim LLC offers comprehensive legal services to clients with international, regional and local business interests, but focuses on banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities and financial markets, corporate finance, general commercial and corporate law, employment, property, litigation and arbitration, and mediation.

Sunny sits as independent director on the boards of several companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.
