Alberto Tornato is the founder of Tornato Avvocati, a law firm operating exclusively in the field of intellectual property. Mr Tornato's practice focuses primarily on trade mark and patent infringement and nullity proceedings as well as on day-by-day handling of trade mark and patent portfolios (watching services, warning letters, out-of-court settlements and licence agreements). Mr Tornato counts major US corporations among his clients. He also has significant experience in advising major Italian fashion industries.
Born in Genoa in 1961, he attended the University of Milan where he graduated in 1987 with a thesis on Trade Mark Law ("The Collective Trade Mark"). He was admitted to the Bar in 1991. From 1987 to 1999 Mr Tornato led the legal department of a major Italian patent and trade mark agents' firm, before founding Tornato Avvocati in 2000. Since 2010, the firm changed into Tornato Prado Avvocati.
Mr Tornato is a member of INTA, AIPPI and VPP (the German association of IP professionals).
He regularly contributes to Italian and international legal reviews and is listed among the most reputed Italian lawyers in Who's Who Legal's independent directory, the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, in the list of the Experts in Trademark Law of Managing Intellectual Property magazine, as well as in the Legal 500 andChambers and Partners guides.
Mr Tornato is fluent in Italian, English, German and French.
