Fred CT Yen is the managing partner of TAI E International Patent and Law Office, which was founded in 1952 as a general law firm, and has developed into a highly respected international intellectual property law firm providing a full range of IP services for domestic and international clients.
Fred has received BSc and MSc degrees, as well as an LLB degree. He has been a practising patent attorney, trade mark agent, arbitrator and mediator for many years. He has been identified in the 2013 through 2016 Asia IP Experts; identified in the "50 Patent Lawyers You Should Know" Asia IP (March 2014); recognized by the Asia Law & Practice as one of Asia's leading practitioners in the IP area from 2007 through 2016; recognized as a leading practitioner in Taiwan, China Law & Practice Annual Review (2014); named in the IAM Patent 1000 – The World's Leading Patent Practitioners in 2013 through 2016; identified by Managing Intellectual Property in the Guide to the World's leading Patent Law Practitioners, 7th through 11th editions; selected by Managing Intellectual Property as an "IP Star" in Taiwan, IP Stars Handbook_Patent (2014 through 2016) and Trade Mark & Copyright (2014 through 2016); recognized in Who's Who Legal: Patents 2014 through 2016 and named in the WTR 1000 – The World's Leading Trademark Professionals in 2015 & 2016.
Fred is a founder organizing the Preparatory Committee to launch the Taiwan Patent Attorneys Association in 2009, as well as a councilor (2nd) and the chair of the International Affairs Committee (2nd). He is also a member or firm representative of the American Intellectual Property Law Association; Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle; Chinese Arbitration Association; European Communities Trade Mark Association; Fédération Internationale de Conseils en Propriété Intellectuelle; International Bar Association; International Trademark Association; Intellectual Property Owners Association; the Licensing Executives Society; Association of European Trade Mark Owners; Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group; and Asian Patent Attorneys Association, acting as a councilor (55th) and in the Emerging IP Rights Committee (53rd & 54th), as well as a councilor of the Taiwan Group (11th through 15th).
Fred's main areas of practice are: IP laws, biotechnology, microbiology, immunology, industrial sanitation, pharmaceutics and agricultural chemistry.
