Leong Wai Hong was the Chairman of Skrine's executive committee of partners from 2009 to 2013. He is the Head of the Dispute Resolution division since 2011. A graduate from the National University of Singapore, he has practised for more than 29 years in Singapore and Malaysia.
He has appeared as lead counsel in international and domestic arbitrations as well as in trials in the High Court of Malaya and Singapore. He has also appeared as lead counsel in appeals in the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court, representing clients in corporate and commercial litigation, cross-border disputes, defamation, probate, banking, construction, shareholders, trusts and land acquisition disputes. Many of his cases are reported in the law journals.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK and a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators and is on the Panel of Arbitrators of ICC Malaysia and on the Panel of Arbitrators and Adjudicators of Asian International Arbitration Centre ("AIAC") (formerly known as KLRCA). He has sat as sole arbitrator and as President of the Tribunal in ICC arbitrations. He is a Notary Public.
He has given expert testimony on Malaysian law in the Singapore High Courts. He is described by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 2010/2011 as being a "sharp and confident" litigator. He is listed by Legal 500 The Clients' Guide to the Asia Pacific Legal Profession 2012 as a member of Skrine's excellent group of dispute resolution lawyers.
