Leong Wai Hong was the Chairman of Skrine's executive committee of partners from 2009 to 2013. He is the Head of the Dispute Resolution division since 2011. A graduate from the National University of Singapore, he has practised for more than 30 years in Singapore and Malaysia.
He appears as lead counsel in international and domestic arbitrations, appeals in the Appellate Courts and trials in the High Court of Malaya. He acts for local and international clients in corporate and commercial litigation, arbitration, cross-border disputes, defamation, probate, banking, construction, shareholders, trusts and land disputes. He has more than 60 cases reported in the law reports.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators. He is also on the panel of arbitrators for Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), ICC Malaysia and Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) (formerly known as KLRCA). He has sat as sole arbitrator and as President of the Arbitral Tribunal in ICC arbitrations. He is a Notary Public.
He has given expert testimonies on Malaysian law in the Singapore High Courts. He has been listed as one of the world's leading practitioners in commercial litigation in The International Who's Who of Commercial Litigators (2010 – 2019) and in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration (2013 – 2019). He is also listed as a Market-Leading Lawyer in The Asialaw Leading Lawyers Guide to Asia-Pacific's Leading Lawyers (2015 – 2018) and a "leading individual for dispute resolution" by Chambers Asia Pacific (2011–2017).
He is also recognised as "one of Asia's leading figures in litigation and receives praise from peers and colleagues for his first-class abilities" by Who's Who Legal Litigation (2017), a "big name" in the litigation field by Who's Who Legal 100 and a "Dispute Star" by Benchmark Asia-Pacific (2014). He is described by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2010-2011) as being a "sharp and confident" litigator, and "very practical and strategic, with tremendous patience" and "very smart and quick to grasp issues, very knowledgeable" and provides "solid and practical advice," according to interviewees of Chambers Asia-Pacific.
He is recently listed in Asia Business Law Journal 2019 as one of 'Malaysia Top 100 Lawyers – The A List'.
