Heinrich Hempel has been a partner at the law firm of Schiller Rechtsanwälte since 1997. He is specialised in all aspects of aviation law with a focus on transport law, liability and regulatory matters. He advises several international carriers as well as minor companies and insurers in the field of aviation. Heinrich Hempel's expertise includes also ground transport, and he advises several clients in this area.
Besides aviation and transport law, Heinrich Hempel's professional activities include commercial law, intellectual property law, employment law, constitutional and administrative law and procurement law. He does forensic as well as non-forensic work.
Heinrich Hempel studied law at Zurich University. He graduated in 1987 and obtained a doctorate degree in 1991. He obtained an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School in 1996. He was a law clerk with the District Court of Bülach from 1990 – 1993. In 1993, he was admitted to the Bar and joined the law firm of Schiller Rechtsanwälte, a law firm established in 1875 and with long standing expertise in aviation and transport law.
Heinrich Hempel is fluent in German, English and French and speaks some Italian.
Heinrich Hempel is chairman of the Swiss Air and Space Law Association (Association Suisse de Droit Aérien et Spatial, ASDA) and a member of the Zurich and Swiss Bar Association. He is a fellow, and member of the board, of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
