Dr Lorenzo Olgiati is a partner and head of Schellenberg Wittmer's Corporate/M&A Group in Zürich. His practice focuses on private and public mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, securities and stock regulation and corporate governance matters including shareholder activism. His clients include Swiss and international private and listed companies, multinational groups of companies, institutional investors, entrepreneurs as well as Swiss public authorities.
Lorenzo is widely recognised by leading directories and publications for his expertise in M&A, capital markets and corporate governance. He is a frequent author and speaker on legal developments affecting M&A and corporate governance, including shareholder activism, and is a co-editor of takeoverpractice.ch, Schellenberg Wittmer's innovative website on Swiss takeover law. In addition, Lorenzo is a lecturer in the University of Zürich's LLM program on international banking and finance law and serves as an officer of the International Bar Association's corporate and M&A law committee.
After graduating from the University of Zürich in 1989, Lorenzo Olgiati served as a research and teaching assistant to Professor Peter Forstmoser, chair of corporate, capital markets and commercial law and obtained his doctorate summa cum laude in 1995. In 1997, he earned a master of laws with distinction from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, followed by an assignment as a foreign associate with an international law firm in New York. Lorenzo joined Schellenberg Wittmer in 1998 and has been a partner since 2003.
