Mr Nitin Sarin is a qualified attorney in both India (as an Advocate) and in England & Wales (as a Solicitor). Mr Sarin is a world-class legal specialist who is known for his keen and deep passion for Aviation. Mr Sarin studied law in India and completed his Advanced Masters in Air and Space Law the Netherlands. After completing his Masters, he returned to head the aviation department of the 1932 established law firm, Sarin & Co.
Mr Sarin is an expert in aircraft financing, aircraft leasing, dealing with regulatory issues and other cross border asset-based financing.
The world's largest lenders, equity participants and lessors figure in his Client list. Mr Sarin advises large names like Boeing Capital Corporation, Lease Corporation International, Air Lease Corporation, Elix Aviation Capital, Delta Air Lines and also works closely with the Aviation Working Group – being an active member of the AWG's India Contact Group. Mr Sarin's keen passion for aviation has established him in the aviation sphere in India and overseas.
Mr Sarin was recently involved in several transactions on behalf of an aircraft manufacturer where the total value of the transaction exceeded 16 billion $ USD. Previously, he was lauded as setting the benchmark for successfully repossessing an aircraft from India in the quickest possible time of only 48 hours – proving that the legal and Cape Town Convention systems in India do work when in the right hands. Sarin was recently voted as one of the 40 top lawyers in India under the age of 45.
Further, Sarin has successfully assisted foreign lessors and banks in leasing numerous aircraft to Indian lessees and private operators. The Firm has also represented a number of India based financial institutions as well as local business houses in the purchase and sale of various business jets. As its pro-bono work, the Firm has been instrumental in working with the Aviation Working Group towards the proper implementation of the Cape Town Convention in India.
2018 saw Sarin spearhead the development of the law relating to de-registration and export of aircraft under an IDERA by undertaking the very first case under the new DGCA SOP and Regulations introduced by the Government of India under the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol. 2018 also saw Sarin work for the US based company which purchased (by auction) the (in)famous Airbus A319ACJ (VT-VJM) owned by Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman, Kingfisher Airlines.
The Firm has an affiliation agreement with Donald H. Bunker & Associates; one of the worlds' front running aviation law firms in the UAE and Canada.
Being a drone pilot himself, Mr Sarin has now ventured into the field of drone / UAS laws.
