Rogério Alves' is both founding partner and managing partner of Rogério Alves & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, RL a new law firm acting since September 2013. He also leads the firm's litigation and arbitration departments.
Has been practising for over 25 years and has an established career and profile, well known and respected by the public. Rogério Alves outstands by a strong and consistent civic participation, namely in the defence of fundamental rights and civil rights, in defence of the legal social-ethical conception, as a means of achieving justice and safeguard rights. Throughout his career, Rogério Alves has acted as an independent lawyer, intervening in major causes of Society and Law, thus building a national and international reputation, in such different areas of the Law, as commercial law, corporate law, real estate law and more profusely in litigation and criminal law, especially in the expertise area of economic criminal law and financial offenses. He is ranked by Chambers Europe (Band 1) in the areas of Economic Criminal Law and Litigation.
He acts in the most high profile cases regarding white collar crime.
Rogério Alves performed several roles at the Portuguese Bar Association, being its national president from 2005 to 2007.
Rogério Alves' awards and recognitions count, among other, the Award by the International Union of Lawyers for activity performed on behalf of Law and human rights in 2007, the Honour by the Spanish Law's General Council, for the activity performed on behalf of human rights, in 2007.
He studied at the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon (Faculty of Law) (finishing 1984). He was admitted to practise in 1987 after trainee period.
Over the last seven years he has taught rhetoric at the same Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon.
He is often invited to participate in TV debates about legal matters, mainly focused in criminal and procedural rules.
He also published articles in specialized legal revues.
