Emma is based in the Toronto office. As the Global Digital Tax Leader for PwC, Emma works together with the Digital Advisory practice to identify and embed tax value and address tax issues as clients launch their digital business strategies and invest in digital technologies to drive growth and productivity. Her focus also includes working with clients on tax technology implementations and tax data analytics solutions. As part of the global tax policy network, she provides input and feedback on digital tax policy proposals and co-leads PwC's Global Digital Tax Study group focusing on a key research project on the "Value of Data".
She leads the tax relationship on a number of Canadian multinational financial services clients in the banking and insurance industries to bring the strength of the firm and its global network to resolve their tax and business issues. As the global tax landscape transforms, she has been advising clients on how to position their tax function for the future. With over 20 years of transfer pricing experience, her strategic tax advice also focuses on assisting clients with restructuring their global operations and redesigning transfer pricing policies in response to regulatory changes and digital business transformations, as well as addressing the implementation of tax and transfer pricing policies from a governance and risk management perspective.
Prior to joining PwC, Emma consulted for a Canadian insurance company and a US bank addressing tax planning, documentation and audit defense issues. Her unique experience also included structuring the in-house transfer pricing function and establishing key business processes and procedures to ensure compliance with global transfer pricing requirements. Her experience also includes three years as an International Tax Auditor with the CRA, performing audits of various types of transactions and was involved in the development of their internal transfer pricing training.
Emma is a CPA with a BA Honours in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Toronto. She recently completed a data analytics course at the university to advance her digital skills. She speaks and publishes regularly on transfer pricing topics. She has appeared in the International Tax Review's World's Leading Transfer Pricing Advisers since 1999 and has been recognized in the Best of the Best 2014 and 2016 Expert Guides as one of the top 30 transfer pricing advisers in the world.
