Seiji Ohno is the managing partner of Ohno & Partners. Mr Ohno is a licensed lawyer in Japan and in the State of New York, USA and a patent attorney in Japan. Mr Ohno specialises in intellectual property law and handles the full range of intellectual property matters, including licensing, client counselling and litigation in various areas of advanced technology and trademark, design right, utility model, copyright, unfair competition, etc., especially in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals semiconductors, computer and information technology.
Mr Ohno has lectured on litigation and licensing under Japanese intellectual law before various groups in Japan and other countries, and has published many articles discussing various issues of Japanese patent law, trademark, utility model, copyright and unfair competition matters. Mr Ohno was an adjunct professor at the Chiba University faculty of Law and Economics in 2001 and 2002; at the Tsukuba University on the LLM programme in 2003; at the University of Tokyo Pharmaceutical faculty from 2004 to 2007; and at Keio Law School, teaching intellectual property law since 2007. He has also been an adjunct staff member of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry from 2005 to 2009.
After studying Sciences at the University of Tokyo College of Arts and Sciences, at the University of Tokyo, Mr Ohno received his LLB from the same university in 1985; and an LLM in patents and intellectual property from George Washington University Law School, in 1995. He was a visiting attorney at Fenwick & West from 1994 to 1995; and at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP, both in Washington, DC, from 1995 to 1996.
