Mr Nader's main areas of practice include banking, acquisition and project finance, corporate and debt restructurings, insolvency, and mergers and acquisitions. Michell is a name partner of NHG and has more than 30 years' experience as an attorney.
He specializes on complex and innovative banking finance transactions. He advised the US Department of the Treasury in the $20 billion emergency financial package provided to the Mexican government in 1995. He has represented export, development and commercial banks in multiple structured and project finance matters including the US Export Import bank, Credit Agricole, General Electric, Capital Corporation, IDB, Bank of America, BNP Paribas and Citibank in areas such as fixed-line and mobile telephony, energy, real estate, and infrastructure. He has also represented a number of bank creditor groups in contested and negotiated workouts including AHMSA, Grupo Minero Mexico, Sicartsa, Comercial Mexicana, Gruma, GICSA, Grupo Collado, Vitro and many others.
He is also an expert in workouts and has been extensively involved in the development of the Mexican, Fibras, Fibras E and PPPs. Michell has spearheaded groundbreaking financial structures in the real estate sector, including the largest real estate financing ever in Mexico and the creation of the first Mexican land bank.
He has also represented investors in M&A transactions in a variety of industries such as the acquisition of Aseguradora Hidalgo by MetLife for US$1.0 billion, the acquisition of Unefon (a mobile telecoms service provider) by Iusacell, the acquisitions of some of the largest Mexican real estate portfolios by GE Real Estate and the sale of Iusacell by Grupo Salinas to ATT for US$2.4 billion. He has led a number of novel securities offerings in Mexico including a number of investment funds (CKDs), real estate investment trusts (FIBRAs), and a recent registration of a Fibra E (Mexican MLP).
