Yves is a partner of the Mexican law firm Nader, Hayaux & Goebel, the only Mexican law firm with an office in London. Better known as the 'Mexican lawyer with a French name in Lombard Street', Yves splits his time between London and Mexico advising multinational clients and foreign investors on cross-border financing, mergers and acquisitions and other operations involving the Mexican market.
Yves is specialised in insurance and reinsurance, both in contentious and non-contentious matters. Yves currently represents on an ongoing basis the following Mexican insurance companies in transactional work, mergers and acquisitions, product development and general regulatory, corporate governance and compliance-related matters: AXA Seguros Mexico, Assurant Daños Mexico, Assurant Vida Mexico, BUPA Mexico, Cardif Mexico Seguros de Vida, Cardif Mexico Seguros Generales, Dentegra Seguros Dentales, Der Neue Horizont Re., Genworth, Grupo Nacional Provincial, Grupo Sudamericano de Inversiones (Grupo SURA), LandAmerica Mexico (in liquidation), MetLife Mexico, Panamerican Life Mexico, Seguros Principal, Prudential Seguros Mexico and Zurich Mexico.
Yves also represents Mexican and foreign insurance and reinsurance companies in coverage issues, claims, disputes, negotiation and settlement of insurance and reinsurance claims, and has outstanding experience in arbitration and mediation.
Yves has acted as secretary of the board of directors and non-executive independent director and secretary of the anti-money laundering, investments, risk and audit committees of Mexican insurance and surety subsidiaries of international companies. He currently serves as non-executive and independent director of Dentegra Seguros Dentales and AXA Seguros, liquidator of LandAmerica Title Insurance Company Mexico, secretary non-member of the board of directors of Assurant Vida Mexico and Assurant Daños Mexico.
Current highlights in his practice include: representing AXA in the acquisition of HSBC Mexico's property and casualty insurance portfolio; representing Assurant in its investment in Iké Grupo Empresarial with operations in Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil; representing Grupo SURA in its entry to the Mexican insurance market and acquisition of Primero Seguros; and representing the Mennonite community of Chihuahua in the incorporation of Der Neue Horizont Re, a Mexican reinsurance company specialised in agricultural risk, the first reinsurance company authorised in Mexico since 1953 and one of only three currently operating in Mexico, signalling a new stage in the diversification of the reinsurance market in Mexico through new local players.
Yves is an active member and former chairman, vice-chairman and board member of the Mexican Chapter of AIDA (AMEDESEF), responsible for having establish ARIAS Mexico. He is also a member of the presidential council of AIDA, vice-chairman of CILA and honourary member of the Commercial Bar Association.
In 2011, Yves co-founded the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom and the Latin American Forum in London.
