Rabab Yasseen is a partner with the Geneva law firm MENTHA, and also serves as Deputy Judge to the Geneva Civil Courts. She previously held positions in major law firms, as general legal counsel to the University of Geneva and as a Consultant to the WTO/ITC.
She specializes in international arbitration, and has been acting as counsel / arbitrator (Sole / Chair / co-Arbitrator) in Ad Hoc arbitration proceedings, as well as under ICC, CCIG, Swiss Rules, UNCC, UNCITRAL, CRCICA, DIAC and CAS Rules, with cases mainly relating to environmental, banking, pharmaceutical, energy, franchise, construction and sport issues. She is a member of the CAS Ad Hoc Division for the Rio Olympics 2016.
She is a member of several panels and associations, including ICCA, ASA, CFA, IAI, the ICC Institute of World Business Law, the ICC Arbitration Commission where she was an active member of the task forces on the "Revision of the ICC Rules of Arbitration" for the 2012 Rules, on "Arbitration involving States and State Entities" and is a member of the current ICC task force on the Emergency Arbitrator. She was also in the IBA task force drafting the "Investor-State mediation Rules", and is a member of the International Commercial Arbitration Committee of the ILA and of the Swiss ILA Directorate Committee. Rabab Yasseen is a regular delegate to the UNCITRAL Commission and Working Group II sessions, including the sessions on "Transparency in treaty-based investor-state arbitration" (the Rules and the Mauritius Convention), those on "the revision of the UNCITRAL Notes on Organizing Arbitral Proceedings", and the current works of the Working Group on "the enforceability of settlement agreements". She is a member of the LCIA, and is an officer of its Arab User's Council; she is also a member of the advisory committee of the Cairo Regional Arbitration Center and sat for many years on the Board of ArbitralWomen. She is also a member of the Geneva and Swiss Bar Associations, as well as the Law Society (England & Wales).
Rabab Yasseen is on the following lists of arbitrators: ICC Arbitration Panel (Swiss National Committee), ICDR International Panel of Arbitrators, WIPO, CAS, VIAC, CEPANI, the Slovenian Arbitration Centre, the Madrid Arbitration Centre, CRCICA (Cairo): Member of the Advisory Committee of CRCICA and the Abu Dhabi Arbitration Chamber (ADCCAC).
She has co-authored the ITC Contractual and Incorporated Joint Venture Model Agreements and their user's guide, published in the UNCTAD/WTO Trade Law Series, Geneva in 2004 and 2005.
She holds degrees in law, history and literature from the University of Geneva, as well as an LLM in international business law from King's College, London. She is admitted to the Geneva Bar and as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court (England & Wales). She is fluent in English, French, Arabic, and has good knowledge of German.
