Xi Liao is a Managing Associate based in Linklaters Beijing office. He has represented a number of multinational companies on various aspects of competition law, including merger filings, dealing with investigations, compliance initiatives, and behavioural counselling. He also has ample experience in assisting Chinese SOEs and domestic firms with assessing the merger control implications for their outbound investments, identifying filing obligations across jurisdictions, and handle multi-jurisdictional merger filings. He was involved in high-profile deals such as the merger of CSR and CNR Corp and China National Nuclear Corporation's acquisition of China Nuclear Engineering & Construction Group Corporation.
Xi's practice spans multiple sectors, including, among others, healthcare, manufacturing, FMCG, automotive, energy, chemical, and financial services.
Xi was named "Future Leaders – Competition" in 2017 and 2018 by Who's Who Legal and won the Best Antitrust Writing Awards in 2016 by Concurrences.
Xi received a Master of Law degree from New York University School of Law, where he was a Vanderbilt Scholar, as well as a Master of Law degree and a Bachelor of Law degree from Renmin University of China. Xi is admitted in the PRC and the New York State.
