Robert B Bell is a senior partner at Lerners LLP, with over 40 years of experience in complex civil litigation matters. He has appeared in trial and appellate courts in different provinces across Canada, and before the Supreme Court of Canada.
His specialty areas include commercial and specialty insurance coverage opinions and litigation, claims investigation and advice, with a particular emphasis on D&O liability, E&O liability, commercial & general liability, cyber insurance and fidelity lines; major commercial disputes; class actions and complex multiparty litigation including cross-border product liability in the automotive, aerospace and consumer products industries.
Mr Bell has constantly received a Martindale-Hubbell AV pre-eminent 5 out of 5 peer review rating. Rob Bell is published widely and is a highly acclaimed speaker and presenter and is frequently invited to participate at conferences as keynote speaker, panelist and moderator. He has created and led numerous advocacy training programs for the Advocates’ Society (including programs in Kiev, Ukraine; St. Kitts, Caribbean; and United Nations, New York), the Law Society of Ontario, and Osgoode Professional Development. In 2014, he was the recipient of The Advocates’ Society’s “Excellence in Teaching Award” for his outstanding contribution to the profession.
Mr Bell is an Accredited Mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), a leading UK provider of dispute resolution services). He is on the Board of Directors of Harbourfront Corporation and The Power Plant; a past Executive Board Member of The Advocates’ Society; a member of the Law Society of Ontario; and a member of the Canadian, American, and International Bar Associations.
Prior to joining Lerners, Mr Bell was a senior partner at a large national law firm where he held a series of positions over the years, including Litigation Department Head, Managing Partner, Toronto and he concluded his service in firm management as Chair of its National Council.
