Dr Matthias Kaut has almost 20 years of experience in advising multinational firms on transfer pricing, business transformation, valuations, post-merger integration and related tax and advisory issues in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region.
His areas of expertise include advising, planning, and implementation of transfer pricing systems for multinational companies. He has performed transfer pricing analyses according to OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines, as well as various country-specific regulations and has managed large base shifting projects associated with international restructuring of major players in a wide range of industries. He has prepared intellectual property valuations according to OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines, and analyzed the tax effects of shared service centre, contract manufacturing, and commissionaire strategies.
Matthias has assisted clients in developing transfer pricing systems in the context of supply chain restructuring as well as in the context of tax planning and also provides transfer pricing related audit and M&A due-diligence support. He has served as the lead partner for several hundred transfer pricing and related economic advisory projects.
Matthias used to lead KPMG Germany's Transfer Pricing practice and was head of the KPMG's global value chain management until 2014. He has transitioned out of both roles to focus on his role in KPMG Germany's tax leadership. Recently, he resigned from this role to take over a leadership role in KPMG Germany's law firm. He continues to work with a limited number of key clients of KPMG on transfer pricing matters.
