Robert B Davidson, Esq, FCIArb is recognized as one of the world's leading commercial arbitrators. He is a retired senior litigation partner at a major international law firm and the Executive Director of JAMS Arbitration Practice.
Mr Davidson has acted as sole arbitrator, chairman, or member of a tripartite panel in numerous arbitrations conducted under the rules of various institutions including JAMS, the AAA (ICDR), the ICC, UNCITRAL, the Rules of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI), the LCIA, the CPR non-administered Rules, the Rules of the HKIAC and the CIETAC Rules. Prior to his retirement from practice, he also acted as counsel to parties appearing before various arbitral institutions, including acting as lead counsel in eleven cases before the Iran-US Claims Tribunal (more than any other lawyer), cases before the ICC, the NAI, the UN Claims Commission and ad hoc panels. In addition, he represented clients in over 100 arbitrations administered by the AAA and the ICDR.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as well as the College of Commercial Arbitrators. He is regularly listed in various publications including Chambers USA, (for International Arbitration, Tier 1); Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Arbitration and International Arbitration-Commercial; and in the International Who's Who of Commercial Mediation.
He served as the Chair of the final argument at the Vis Moot Court competition in Vienna in 2008, and was a member of the ICC Task Force on Reducing Time & Cost in International Arbitration. He is a contributing author to various publications and frequently lectures to lawyers and to students at various law schools and at CLE conferences.
