Chinyere is a partner in the Law Firm of JACKSON, ETTI & EDU, based in Lagos Nigeria. She is also the current serving Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, Section on Business Law.
Chinyere posses over 20 years practical intellectual property experience and is internationally recognized as an authority and specialist in this area of the law.
At present, she advises numerous blue chip clients on all aspects of intellectual property, as well as related issues; and is personally responsible for the IP portfolio management of a number of internationally renowned corporations. She also advises the various government departments on IP related issued particularly on Law reform.
In line with her area of specialization, she is a member of a number of international intellectual property organizations and participates actively in their annual seminars, conferences and training programmes worldwide. Some of these organizations include, the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), based in Japan, where she is an Observer member, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), based in Switzerland, where she is one the only three Nigerians who have been admitted into the individual membership. Pharmaceutical Trademark Group (PTMG), where she is her firm nominee and the Institute of Trademarks Agents (ITMA), Intellectual Property Association of Nigeria (IPLAN) – Member and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
In the International Trademark Association (INTA), Chinyere has served as a committee member of various committees over the years and more recently is on Harmonization Committee – Free Trade Areas Subcommittee.
On the home front, she is actively involved in the local Intellectual Property Law Association of Nigeria (IPLAN) and is also an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Section on Business Law (SBL). In 2007, she was appointed the Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Committee, NBA, Section on Business Law, a position which she currently holds. During her tenure, she has won the award for "Outstanding Committee Chairperson" in 2007, "Committee of the year" in 2008 and 2009 consecutively.
Chinyere in the course of her career has written a number of articles for publication in the journals of various organizations on IP related issues. In January 2009 she was appointed as a columnist of the Intellectual Property section of the ESQ magazine, a local legal publication in Nigeria. An ardent speaker, she has also presented various papers and moderated a number of sessions during seminars in this area of the law.
