Dr Klaus A Gerstenmaier is a senior partner of Haver & Mailänder, a law firm with offices in Stuttgart, Frankfurt-Main, Dresden, and Brussels.
He studied law at the universities of Tübingen, Bonn, Göttingen, and Berkeley, California. He has more than 35 years of experience representing German and foreign clients in commercial litigation and arbitration. His areas of specialisation are mergers and acquisitions, corporate and company law, joint ventures, turnkey contracts, foreign investment, and energy law.
Klaus has served as arbitrator, chairman, and parties' counsel in more than 100 national and international arbitration proceedings under the ICC, LCIA, Vienna, DIS, AAA, SCC, and Swiss rules as well as in ad hoc arbitration. He also has wide experience as counsel before German courts. He is a member of the board of the German Institution for Arbitration and the International Bar Association's committees on arbitration and litigation (past chair), and he was, until June 2014, German delegate to the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris. He lectures on international arbitration at the University of Constance, Germany. Klaus is fluent in German and English.
