Simon Gabriel specialises in international arbitration and has participated in more than 75 international arbitration proceedings. He is founder and owner of the Zürich based arbitration boutique law firm GABRIEL Arbitration and is thus entirely independent.
Simon is regularly appointed as arbitrator in proceedings governed by ICC Rules, Swiss Rules, Vienna Rules, DIS Rules, and ad hoc rules. He is a member of the Swiss ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission and listed on the arbitrators’ list of ICC Switzerland, on the VIAC list of recommended practitioners, on the list of arbitrators of the Russian Arbitration Association and on the panel of the Asian International Arbitration Centre. Furthermore, he has acted as counsel for parties in arbitration proceedings under ICC Rules, Swiss Rules, Vienna Rules, DIS Rules, SCC Rules and ad hoc rules. In terms of amounts in dispute, his experience includes the whole range from $700,000 to $120,000,000.
Simon and his team are experienced in disputes concerning joint ventures and consortia, energy, international sales contracts, licensing contracts and post M&A issues.
Simon studied law at University of Berne and University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He graduated in 2002, passed the Swiss bar exam in 2004 and is admitted to all Swiss courts. He also holds a PhD from University of Lucerne and an LL.M. in common law advocacy from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Before opening GABRIEL Arbitration in 2012 he was a member of the dispute resolution group of a leading international law firm.
Simon regularly publishes and speaks on subjects of international arbitration and Swiss private international law. He is fluent in English and German and also speaks French.
