Dr Colin Ong QC is a Chartered Arbitrator and Queen's Counsel at 36 Stone(London); Counsel at Eldan Law LLP(Singapore); and Senior Partner at Dr Colin Ong Legal Services. He has over 27 years of experience as lead counsel and arbitrator and actively leads many international teams or sits as arbitrator across 7 countries. He is well known in areas including banking/finance; infrastructure projects (airports, bridges, pipe-lines; ports; railways and roads), entertainment industries, insurance, energy disputes (coal mining/supply disputes, production sharing contracts, electricity supply, gas and oil contracts), information technology, insolvency shipping, intellectual property (bank ATMs; computing/software licensing; games software; reverse engineering; insurance, manufacturing issues (automobile parts, military equipment, pharmaceutical; software), telecoms, technology transfer and general commercial trade related matters. He is a Civil Law professor, known for his mastery of civil law in numerous arbitrations governed under Civil law. He is the first ASEAN national lawyer appointed English Queen's Counsel. In 2010, he became the first ASEAN non head of state or senior judge to be elected as a Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple.

Author of arbitration publications with 2 books listed as End-note 1 reference books in separate CIArb Practice Guidelines (Costs in International Arbitration (Lexis Nexis) and Interim Measures in International Arbitration (Juris). He authored several texts on advocacy including chapter one for the GAR Guide to Advocacy.
At the 2016 GAR Awards, the split decisions in PT Perusahaan Gas Negara v CRW [2015] SGCA 30, where he was lead counsel, were named runner up most important decision of 2015. He is a visiting professor of law and has been visiting professor at both leading Civil and Common law jurisdictions. He holds LLB (Sheffield), LLM, PhD (Queen Mary), FCIArb, FMIArb, FSIArb and DiplCArb.
