Mikhail Ivanov is a partner and Head of Dentons' Russian Litigation and Arbitration practice. He specialises in the resolution of disputes between foreign investors and major Russian companies.
Over the past 20 years, Mikhail has represented the Firm's clients in litigation before the Russian commercial courts and general courts of law, participated in international commercial arbitrations in Russia and abroad under UNCITRAL, ICC, SCC and ICAC Rules, and represented foreign clients in recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Russia.
After graduating from the international law department of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1984, Mikhail went on to complete post-graduate studies in 1987, earning a Candidate of Science degree in International Law.
According to Chambers Europe 2018: "Practice head Mikhail Ivanov is a widely recognised disputes lawyer who heads the practice. He principally acts for international clients on corporate and commercial disputes, including representing clients in international arbitration disputes." In 2018 according to Best Lawyers Mikhail Ivanov was named as the Lawyer of the Year in Arbitration and Mediation in St. Petersburg and as leading expert in International Arbitration and Litigation in Russia. In Chambers Europe 2016 Mikhail Ivanov is described as "a very impressive lawyer: reputable, reliable, a real professional" by market commentators. The Legal 500 2018 mentioned that "Mikhail Ivanov has significant commercial court experience".
