Vik is an international tax partner and the leader of the international tax practice in Australia. Vik has 32 years' experience in the profession and has been a partner for 21 years at Deloitte and at another Big 4 accounting firm. Vik has extensive experience in advising multinational corporations and leading financial institutions on cross-border transactions, profit repatriation, acquisitions and restructures, on tax due diligence assignments and on financing issues.
Vik also has substantial practical experience in advising on the taxation aspects of private equity investment, cross border real estate investments, mergers and acquisitions, and on cross-border and domestic investment generally. As an international tax/mergers and acquisitions tax specialist, Vik has advised on numerous, significant mergers and acquisitions transactions in Australia and overseas.
Vik has also been heavily involved in cross-border capital raising, structured finance transactions and hybrid capital structures and has advised on a number of market-leading publicly-listed issues.
He is actively engaged in advising on the practical impact of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) measures, and in relation to the related Australian measures including the Multinational Anti-avoidance legislation and the Diverted Profits Tax.
He is member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, an affiliate member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and a Chartered Taxation Adviser of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
