Hernan Katz, Deloitte Mexico, is a partner in the Mexico City office. He is a member of the Transfer Pricing practice, is responsible for developing the practice in Southeastern Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico region.
Hernan is also the Chief Technology Officer and the Tax Analytics leader, in Mexico and Latin America and Caribbean Region, for the Tax and Legal function. In this role, he is leading and coordinating efforts with all the Latin American countries, related to projects of Tax and Legal Technology and Tax Data Analytics. Hernan is also a member of Deloitte's global CTO and global tax analytics teams, providing key input on decisions involving the firm's technology and analytics practices and eminence.
Hernan has over 16 years of experience in transfer pricing, financial analysis, and economic valuation. His customers include prominent companies in the Fortune 500 that do business in Mexico and Latin America. Before joining Deloitte Mexico, Hernan worked four years in the Buenos Aires office of Deloitte Argentina.
Hernan has coordinated and directed numerous regional transfer pricing projects, thus gaining important Latin American experience in the region's key transfer pricing and market issues. He has also participated in several transfer pricing audit and controversy processes, gaining significant experience in this field across the region. He has been involved in numerous planning projects that required complex economic and financial analyses and entailed significant interaction between the transfer pricing and international tax practices.
Hernan has an important experience in the Oil and Gas industry, working in transfer pricing and tax and controversy projects with some of the main important Oil & Gas companies across the Latin America region (Multinational Integrated and NOC). He also has extensive knowledge of the consumer business industry, and served as the lead client service partner for the Latin American region for some of the principal multinational companies doing business in this sector.
Hernan was a professor of macroeconomics and economic policy at the University of Buenos Aires. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Buenos Aires, where he obtained the diploma with "Magna Cum Laude" honors. Hernan has contributed as a writer to several International Tax and Transfer Pricing journals.
