Peter Gemesi, Deloitte Hungary, is a transfer pricing director in the Budapest office. Peter has 15 years of experience in transfer pricing and was head of the Hungarian transfer pricing service line for several years. In 2009 and 2010 Peter led the Hungary desk in New York as part of Deloitte's International Core of Excellence (ICE) program.
Peter is experienced in all areas of transfer pricing. He has helped clients during large audits and has negotiated several advance pricing arrangements (APAs) with the Hungarian Tax Authority. Peter has led engagement teams working on transfer pricing documentation, benchmark studies, and planning for cross-border transactions for global multinationals. These transfer pricing projects covered several industries and several types of transactions, including but not limited to traditional services, sales, financial transactions, licensing, and conversions to toll or contract manufacturers or limited-risk distributors. Peter also assisted in global Business Model Optimization (BMO) projects, coordinating and designing the Hungarian changes. Peter has been responsible for several international tax and M&A engagements that involved international structuring, transformation, transfer of going concern, and operational profile conversion issues. As part of those projects, Peter obtained several binding rulings from the Ministry of Finance. During his years at ICE, he was active in developing and implementing structures with the involvement of Deloitte Hungary's tax practice.
Peter has built a relationship with the Hungarian tax authorities, and has had an active role in negotiating to obtain rulings, binding rulings, and APAs on behalf of clients.
Peter has been a presenter at several conferences and is the author of numerous tax articles and publications.
Peter is an economist, a graduate from the Budapest University of Economics in finance. He is a registered tax advisor.
