Patrick Cauwenbergh is a partner and the leader of the transfer pricing practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's Belgian member firm. He is also co-head of the European Value Chain Alignment initiative (tax, legal and consulting) and a member of the Global Strategies Group.
Patrick has more than 20 years of experience in transfer pricing projects. He joined Deloitte's transfer pricing team in 1999, and has broad experience in the manufacturing, consumer goods, energy, telecom, pharmaceutical, retail and financial services industry.
Patrick spends a significant amount of time on Value Chain Alignment projects, including planning, implementation, documentation, and defence of shared service, low risk distribution, toll manufacturing, intellectual property, business franchise, central procurement and central entrepreneur structures. He is also intensively involved in the negotiation of unilateral and multilateral advance pricing agreements as well as in competent authority and European arbitration procedures.
Patrick has a Masters and PhD degree from the University of Antwerp in Law (international transfer pricing) as well as a LLM in International and European Taxation at the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales of Brussels.
Patrick is a professor at the University of Antwerp in international tax law (since 1997) and is also a visiting professor in transfer pricing at the University of Lausanne.
Patrick is included in all editions of Euromoney / Legal Media's Guide since 2001 as one of the leading (international) tax and transfer pricing advisors in Belgium and since 2014 as one of the top 30 best of the best transfer pricing advisors in the world.
