Chris is the Managing Director and founder of cLegal LLC, a Singapore law practice.
Immediately prior to setting up cLegal in 2014, Chris was a partner of international law firm Pinsent Masons LLP, and an equity partner of Singapore law firm MPillay and Pinsent Masons MPillay LLP, a licenced joint law venture in Singapore between Pinsent Masons and MPillay.
Chris is a Singapore qualified dispute resolution lawyer with substantial experience in building and construction disputes. He is an experienced lead counsel who has successfully argued cases at all levels of the Singapore Courts (including its highest court, the Court of Appeal), in arbitrations and in adjudications.
cLegal acts for some of the largest international and domestic players in the building and construction sector, and are involved in some of the biggest projects in Singapore. These range from private sector projects such as Resorts World Sentosa, South Beach and Paya Lebar Quarter to public sector projects such as the Downtown & Thomson Line (part of the Singapore subway), the Singapore Power Electricity Cable Tunnel and Changi Airport Terminal 4.
cLegal has one of the leading construction adjudication practices in Singapore. From 2013 to 2016, Chris was lead counsel in more than 80 adjudications and adjudication reviews, with the largest being S$116 million (which remains the largest to date). He is also an accredited adjudicator with the Singapore Mediation Centre.
Chris is ranked by legal directories such as Chambers & Partners as a leading dispute resolution lawyer and construction lawyer in Singapore.
Christopher tutors and mentors for the Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations, and regularly speaks at external seminars. He is also a member of the Inquiry Panel (dealing with complaints against lawyers) appointed by the Chief Justice under the Legal Profession Act.
