Ik-Hyun Seo is experienced in both US and Korean intellectual property litigation and prosecution matters, and represents a broad range of clients, from high-tech companies to luxury and fashion companies. His detailed knowledge of the similarities as well as differences between these two jurisdictions has been a valuable asset when advising foreign clients on effective IP management and enforcement strategies in Korea.
Ik-Hyun is recognised as a Leading Individual in the area of IP by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2001-2016), a Leading Lawyer by Asia Law & Practice (2004-2017), and a Highly Recommended attorney for IP by PLC (2005-2012). He is also the winner of the Client Choice Award for Trademarks from Lexology and ILO (2015, 2017-2018). He serves as the regional counsel for a number of multinational clients with intellectual property programmes in Asia.
He is a member of the Illinois Bar; United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; United States Patent Bar; Chicago Korean-American Bar Association; International Association of Korean Lawyers; and International Trademark Association. He is admitted as an attorney-at-law in the US (Illinois) and to the US Patent Bar.
Ik-Hyun was educated at the Chicago-Kent College of Law (JD, 1995) and University of Notre Dame (BSc Electrical Engineering, 1992). He speaks Korean and English.
