Martin Bernet's practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. He is regularly appointed as chairman and co-arbitrator in international and domestic arbitrations and frequently acts as counsel, representing parties before state courts and arbitration panels.
Martin's arbitration experience comprises the entire range of commercial arbitration and litigation, including joint ventures, shareholders' disputes, post-M&A disputes, the international sale of goods, infrastructure investments and license contracts.
Martin is a past chairman of the International Bar Association's international litigation committee, and has published extensively in the areas of international arbitration, international litigation, administrative procedural law and contracts. He additionally teaches international commercial arbitration at the University of Zürich and is a frequent conference speaker.
Martin graduated Dr iur from the University of Zürich and was admitted to the Zürich Bar in 1982. Prior to joining Schellenberg Wittmer, where he has been a partner since 1989, Martin worked as a foreign associate at a law firm in Washington, DC.
Martin will set up his own practice as of 1 January 2018.
