Steven De Schrijver advises some of the largest Belgian and foreign technology companies, as well as innovative entrepreneurs on complex commercial agreements and projects dealing with new technologies, for example, e-commerce, software licensing, website development and hosting, privacy law, intellectual property law, IT security, IT contracts, technology transfers, digital signatures, IT outsourcing, cloud computing, robotics, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, drones, augmented and virtual reality.
Steven also regularly advises technology companies on corporate transactions and has been involved in several national and cross-border transactions in the IT, media and telecoms sectors. He participated in the establishment of the first mobile telephone network in Belgium, the establishment of one of the first e-commerce platforms in Belgium, the acquisition of the Flemish broadband cable operator and network, and the acquisition of Belgian software companies by large US, Canadian, French, and Dutch ICT companies.
Steven closely follows new developments and innovations in the technology sector and focuses on delivering benchmark advice with respect to new legal problems that arise as a result of these new developments and innovations. He provides legible, to-the-point, practical, and business-oriented advice and takes clear positions.

He received the ILO Client Choice Award in 2012, in the general corporate category for Belgium. In 2012 and 2014 Steven won The International Who's Who Legal award as Information Technology Lawyer of the Year.
Steven frequently publishes articles on selected topics relating to IT law and company law, and is a member of the editorial board of Computerrecht, the only Dutch-language IT law magazine.
Steven is a member of the computer and telecommunications law commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA), a member of the IP/IT commission of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and the Belgian member of EuroITCounsel, a quality circle of independent IT lawyers. Steven is a board member of ITechLaw and was President of IFCLA (the International Federation of Computer Law Associations) from 2012 to 2014.
Steven has been admitted to the Brussels Bar and is able to plead before all Belgian courts, the Benelux Court and the European Court of Justice. He received his juris doctor (magna cum laude) from the University of Antwerp and an LLM from the University of Virginia School of Law. Steven is fluent in English, Dutch and French and has a good understanding of German and Spanish.
