Lily (Chea Li) Tan is the Joint Managing Partner at Albar & Partners. She heads the Corporate and Commercial and Equity Capital Markets practice, while also co-leading the Banking & Finance practice. Lily focuses on large scale M&As and de-mergers, public take-overs, initial public offerings, REITS, privatisation projects and joint ventures. She is highly experienced in sophisticated structured finance, asset backed securitisation and project finance transactions (both domestic and cross border), conventional bonds and complex Sukuks. With her extensive background, Lily has advised in many ground-breaking transactions which have won awards as some of the top deals in the nation.
In 2019, Lily was recognised by Asia Business Law Journal as one of Malaysia's best private practice lawyers in "The A-List: Malaysia's Top 100 Lawyers". At the 2017 ALB Malaysia Awards, Lily was honoured as the inaugural winner of the Woman Lawyer of the Year Award in recognition of her contribution to women in the legal profession. Lily has led in transactions which have won domestic and international acclaim, including advising the joint principal advisers and lead arrangers in MBSB Bank Berhad's structured covered Sukuk Murabahah facility (Debt Market Deal of the Year: ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2019) besides advising Malaysia Building Society Berhad in its merger with Asian Finance Bank (Equity & IPO Deal of the Year: IFN Law Awards 2018). Lily also advised in the RM2 billion perpetual Sukuk by DRB-Hicom Berhad, which was awarded Islamic Finance Deal of the Year (Asian Lawyer's Emerging Markets Awards 2015) and acted for the issuer in the PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad's IPO, which was the largest IPO in Malaysia and in South-East Asia for 2010 (Best Malaysia Deal: Finance Asia's Awards for Achievement 2010 and Equity Deal of the Year 2010: IFN Law Awards 2010).
