Rebecca is a partner in the Aviation Finance and Banking team. Rebecca has extensive experience acting for airlines on a broad range of financing and leasing structures across the aviation sector. Her practice area focuses on aviation, predominantly advising airlines including British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Vueling, LATAM, flydubai and Philippine Airlines, in addition to private banks, manufacturers and airports covering all aspects of the aviation market from financing, leasing, tax and regulatory perspectives.
She has been nominated as "Rising Star" for leading high quality transactions for prestigious profile clients and for being the only female partner in the Aviation team. Rebecca is also the partner responsible for Pro Bono for her firm. She is an active member of professional organisations, such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Royal Aeronautical Society and she regularly attends the Euromoney Air Finance Conference in Dubai and Dublin.
Rebecca's spectrum of expertise includes advising on all aspects of aviation finance and leasing transactions including finance and operating leases, export credit agency supported financings, cross-border tax-based leasing structures, sale and leasebacks, French tax leases, Japanese operating leases, debt financing, Islamic financings, restructuring of airlines, sub-leases and wet leases. During her career to date, she has negotiated numerous operating and finance leases for new and used aircraft with all the major lessors in the market.
Rebecca's practice focuses on adding value by understanding her clients' businesses and using her experience to deliver well negotiated technical documentation. Notably, having worked along-side engineers since 2010 to reinforce her knowledge base, she has an in-depth knowledge of the technical content of operating leases and is particularly experienced in negotiating aircraft return conditions.
Rebecca joined Addleshaw Goddard, as a Managing Associate, from Freshfields in 2010, where, having worked in Freshfields' London and Paris offices, she gained considerable experience representing banks and airlines (Air Asia, Air China, China Eastern) on aircraft financing transactions; financial institutions in relation to tax structured products and derivatives in financing transactions including general banking, commercial real estate finance, debt portfolio acquisitions and disposals, structured finance, ISDA and debt capital markets transactions, in addition to being seconded to the global capital markets team of a large investment bank. She now also acts for IAG Treasury in respect of all elements of derivatives contracts.
